Well it’s that time of the year, kids are out of school and families are looking forward to vacationing. However, there are many people that find this one of the busiest time of the year and those are the organizers and the teams involved in the “Relay For Life”.
The “Relay For Life” is a twenty four hour activity, in which you walk or run laps to raise money for the Cancer Society in it’s continuing search for “The Cure” to this devastating disease that touches almost everyone in some shape or form.
This weekend “The Relay” is being held at McGuffey High School with Survivor Registration at 5:30pm. The event opens with The National Anthem at 6:00pm Friday and has laps that honor survivors and caregivers. At 9:00pm there will be a Luminaria Ceremony in remembrance of loved ones. This years Caregiver Lap/ Fight Back Ceremony is entitled “Tale of Two Sisters”
The rest of the twenty four hours will be filled with music and special laps in which the participants show their imagination with costume creation. Some of the laps are, Duct Tape Lap, Newspaper Fashion Show Lap, Star Wars Lap, and Dress like a Rock Star Lap. There is a frozen Tee-Shirt contest that might be interesting.
This years Relay For Life is going to be a fun filled event and hopefully will supersede last years total. So come out to McGuffey High School from 6:00pm Friday June 17thto 6:00pm Saturday June 18th and support the Cancer Society’s’ fight for a cure.
